24th International Socotra Conference and Annual General Meeting

From 19.9. to 21.9. the 24th symposia and annual meeting of the Friends of Soqotra "Socotra" Charity took place in Ljubljana, organised by the Institute of Biology ZRC SAZU with the help of Natoura. The Ambassador of Yemen, Mr Mohammed Abdullah Al-Hadhrami, and the First Consul, Mr Fadhl Al-Maghafi, added a special touch with their presence.

Researchers presented many new findings about the unique nature of Socotra Island, a biodiversity hotspot and UNESCO World Heritage site that has recently faced many conservation issues. Fruitful discussions on the effects of climate change, overgrazing and tourism will hopefully help to prevent the erosion of biodiversity on Socotra.
