The distribution and population viability of 10 species of Lepidoptera (Parnassius apollo, Leptidea morsei, Maculinea arion, M. nausithous, M. teleius, Lycaena dispar, Euphydryas aurinia, E. maturna, Coenonympha oedippus, Eriogaster catax) listed in Annex II of the Habitats Directive (Council Directive 92/43/EEC) were studied. The main tasks were (i) defining the optimal monitoring protocols for selected species, and (ii) designating the regions in Slovenia where each type of monitoring (monitoring of population size, monitoring of presence of the species within continuous distribution range, monitoring of presence of the species within the range of isolated populations/populations on the border of species' distribution range in Slovenia) will take place.
